Representing a better way to build neighbourhoods
Glen Junor is a new model for how development can be done in a way that truly benefits people in the community and the environment around them, today and forever.
The original Glen Junor site will be located in Gisborne, regional Victoria. Incorporating the immediate needs for the project and the big picture long-term vision, Small Matters created a visual identity for the Glen Junor project.
We set about to create a brand that is instantly engaging, but also encourages people to dig deeper into the values and philosophy. Our aim was to visually reflect Glen Junor’s values, such as community ownership, neighbourhood, quality of life and sustainability.
The Black-chinned Honey Eater was a perfect icon for the brand, as a local bird that lives cooperatively and symbolises the notion that human’s actions towards living sustainably impacts our natural environment.
The colour palette was drawn from the natural environment represented in Indigenous seasons of Victoria. We also created an illustrative style that is organic and minimal, all elements are designed to translate beautifully across the future signage, wayfinding and marketing of Glen Junor.
“Let’s not just protect our environment and community, let’s actually regenerate the environment, reintroduce threatened wildlife, build the community assets we need and deliver new green open spaces and more of Jackson Creek for future generations of Gisborne to benefit. So much of what we enjoy in our community today was created by past generations, it’s our time to contribute something for those who follow us”.
